Goat Milk

Goat milk is currently available through herd shares. By buying a herd share you become a part owner of the herd. While MOF retains authority over all management decisions, you gain access to a portion of the milk produced by the herd.
Cost
Annual buy-in fee - $20/reproductive year (kidding time to the dry-off period prior to the following kidding)
Subscription fee - dependent upon your share size, but roughly calculated at a rate of $8/gallon
Goat Sales

MOF's herd is made up entirely of purebred Alpine goats, most of whom are also registered with the ADGA. They come from both show and production lines. Kids are raised with their dams, and are well accustomed to handling, browsing, and various forms of fencing from the very start. The herd undergoes yearly biosecurity screenings, bi-annual fecal screenings, and are all up-to-date on vaccines.
The herd is still in an expansion stage, so we have limited sales each year. Animals for sale will be listed here and on our Facebook page.
Poultry
Eggs

Our flock of chickens are purebred heritage Delaware chickens, managed as a free-range flock which allows them a balanced diet. In addition to the bugs and plants they scavenge, they are given access to oyster shells for added calcium and corn for rounding out their diet as they choose. These eggs are nutritious and so pretty!
Our birds are allowed to live as God created them, meaning we do not supplement their light for the winter months. Consequently, our egg production varies season to season. Requests for eggs will be handled first-come-first-served.
We do keep a mixed-gender flock, so we have eggs for both hatching and eating.
Eggs can be requested washed or unwashed. Hatching eggs are more expensive because of the added work to keep track of which eggs are potentially fertilized and which are not.
Cost
Eating eggs - $4/dozen
Hatching eggs - $5/dozen
Chicks

Baby animals are the best and chicks are no exception! We know you have many options for where you can get chicks, but if you'd like them from a local farm, from a flock that is proven in both survival and production, these chicks are your ticket!
Offspring of our purebred, heritage Delaware chickens, these chicks will grow into hardy, dual-purpose homestead heroes. As with other enterprises, we will be breeding responsibly and on a small scale. This means we will not have chicks available during the coldest months of the year, and you may need to wait up to four weeks for a new batch to be hatched. Chicks will go home with you between the ages of 1-10 days old. Should a chick die within a week of going home, we will replace it once.
Occasionally, we may have older birds available for sale. Check our Facebook page or send us a message if you are interested in older birds.
Cost
Chicks (1-10 days old) - $4/each
Pullets/Chickens (10+ days old) - price varies
Hay

Our hay is managed to produce affordable, horse-quality feed, though it is suitable for all animals. It is a healthy and palatable mix of timothy, orchard, fescue, clover, and alfalfa. Current repeat clients feed this hay to cattle, sheep, goats, donkeys, and horses (including Thoroughbreds). We grow hay primarily to feed our own animals but are happy to sell it to others when we produce a surplus.
All hay is baled in small square bales, measuring 2.5-3 feet in length and weighing approximately 50 lbs. We seek to bale it to make it reasonable to handle, aiming for an ideal tightness and weight. It is stored dry, inside, and off the ground to minimize the risk of mold or discoloration.
Hay can be picked up from the farm, or delivered to you. Delivery incurs an additional charge and is only available within a reasonable distance. There is no minimum purchase, nor are there volume discounts.
A discount will be available to those who want to pick up bales off the field, when available.
Hay may be tested at your own expense.
Prices will be listed below when hay is available.

Garden

There are many types of gardens - vegetable, flower, decorative, formal, herb. We wanted to combine them, making an edible garden that was also a pleasure to linger in. Starting with a half-bare hilltop sparsely covered with weeds and grass, we are slowly transforming our garden into a work of art. With a layout designed more for aesthetics than function, and plants chosen and trained for beauty as well as produce, we are breaking all the rules of functional gardening...and starting to see it work!
Our garden is primarily a place of pleasure, so fruits are the central feature. Strawberries and blackberries are thriving, with apples and peaches coming soon. On a rotational basis we also plant various vegetables, and are beginning to work in some perennial herbs. Flowers are also on the list.
Still in the development stages and the area of least focus on the farm, the garden is still producing lightly. When we have produce to sell it will be listed here and/or on Facebook.
